Day 9 - School day + Traditional English Cooking Course
Day 9
23/7/2025
St. Lawrence College
Today, we had an English lesson in the morning. As part of our class, we worked on a speed writing task about "My Life in the Next Ten Years." This activity was really fun because it encouraged creative thinking and improved our writing skills.
After lunch, we had a special English cooking lesson at St. Lawrence College, where we learned to make traditional British scones. Scones are a classic English snack, often served with tea. We worked in groups and followed the teacher’s instructions to mix all the ingredients—flour, butter, sugar, milk, and a pinch of salt. After kneading the dough, we used round pastry cutters to shape the scones. With the leftover dough, we also made creative, fun shapes like mice and pigs.
Once the scones were baked (for about 10-15 minutes) until golden brown, we split them in half and spread them with cream and strawberry jam. They smelled amazing, and when we tasted them, they were crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy inside—absolutely delicious! We were so proud of our baking that we each took a few back to share with our host families.
What a memorable and enjoyable day! Not only did we improve our English, but we also discovered how much we love baking.
